Elias Matsakis' practice transcends multiple legal disciplines where he has led teams of attorneys in complex transactions and served as the trusted advisor to numerous businesses, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals. In his new practice, he will leverage that experience to provide counseling and guidance. For more substantial matters, he will co-counsel with his former colleagues to build the appropriate team with the requisite capacity to meet client needs.

For many years, he served as the practice group leader for Holland & Knight's Illinois Business Attorneys and as the head of its Illinois Healthcare and Life Sciences Team. In those capacities, and as the lead attorney, he collaborated frequently with his law firm’s corporate, real estate and finance attorneys in signature real estate and corporate merger and acquisition projects both locally and across the nation.

For the past 30 years, his practice has also focused on the representation of physician organizations, physician management companies and health systems in a wide range of matters including integration and alignment transactions, managed care contracting, technology deployment, joint ventures, Accountable Care Organizations, healthcare networks, and regulatory compliance matters.

He is also experienced in the representation of skilled nursing and senior living development mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Mr. Matsakis assists large nonprofit organizations in corporate governance and conflict policies.

In the role of counselor for large privately-held businesses he has served as their principal legal strategist in both their growth and litigation needs. In that capacity he has had substantial experience in dispute resolution and has successfully negotiated numerous significant settlements of complex “bet the company” commercial litigation matters across multiple industries and in complex estate disputes.

Mr. Matsakis devotes a significant amount of his time to pro bono matters on behalf of local charitable and religious organizations.

Mr. Matsakis' leadership skills have been recognized both by his former firm where he had served for many years as a member of its Directors Committee and the Executive partner of its 150 lawyer Chicago Office and by the community where he served on the District 225 Board of Education for six years, a school district of approximately 4500 students.
